Re: wmv output completely corrupted (2.2.4)

This might have something to do with something. kernel: [drm:radeon_uvd_cs_parse [radeon]] *ERROR* UVD handle collision detected! kernel: [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl [radeon]] *ERROR* Invalid command stream ! Reproducible by dragging a video (not just wmv) into an already-playing video within vlc's main wi...

Re: wmv output completely corrupted (2.2.4)

Btw a word of caution for those of you with an r9-280, if you're thinking about replacing stock radeon with amdgpu, I suggest you don't (seriously trust me on this.) At least, not now.

Re: wmv output completely corrupted (2.2.4)

Did you actually check any other application with WMV hardware decoding support? And if so, did you use the exact same libavcodec version, and threads count? Otherwise, comparing other apps is kinda meaningless. AFAIK, mpv/mplayer uses single threaded VDPAU, so that is not a good reference for comp...

Re: wmv output completely corrupted (2.2.4)

I can confirm same issue. The workaround is disabling HWA at the expense of heavy cpu usage. Thankfully most of my hd videos are in different containers and this issue is limited to .wmv's -- so I immediately switch HWA back to "automatic" once I'm done with the .wmv's. Relevant system inf...

Re: Windows outperforms Ubuntu by 10 times. HEVC.

No problems here. Using built-in AMD open-source drivers, mint 17.3, vlc 2.1.6, installed the "strukturag/libde265" PPA, hw acceleration decoding disabled under plugins (I find that option buggy with playing sound and the "VA" option doesn't really make a difference). CPU: g3258...

I'll be waiting for your patch since you obviously know better. Your requested lucky 7 lines of code: sudo apt-get install firejail sudo ln -s /usr/bin/firejail /usr/local/bin/vlc mkdir -p ~/.local/share/applications/ cp /usr/share/applications/vlc.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/ sed -ri 's|(E...

Re: Ubuntu: is there any setting within VLC that disallows all outgoing network connections?

There are no such settings in VLC. That wouldn't work as some of the network access is via third party libraries. I don't really buy that. The libraries still run under the context of the VLC application no? In win7 it was so easy to block, just select vlc.exe, put a deny on it, and it's not making...

Ubuntu: is there any setting within VLC that disallows all outgoing network connections?

Here's the setting in VLC I'm looking for: "disable all network activity?" [check yes], done. VLC is now permanently in "offline mode." Does this simple setting exist? Don't really care if the setting disallows incoming connections as well. I'm a recent convert coming from win7 a...

Try this. Also, if you're still on XP, please be using a high-powered AV Scanner.

open preferences, show setting in simple mode. click video tab, uncheck use hardware YUV -> RGB conversions. click save, and restart VLC. by did that, the green lines just gone for me :D Thanks, that worked for me as well. But I'm curious if this will negatively affect video quality. The VLC docume...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 RC bugs

It has been reported elsewhere that adjusting the volume with the scroll wheel in full screen mode has been fixed in pre4, however I'm still experiencing this problem in windows 7
I'm also experiencing this in 64bit, also with 1.1.0RC.

Re: 1.0.6 binaries?

I've been wondering about this too. It's been a fairly long time that 1.0.5 has been out and the bugs in Win 7 64bit are really killing me and making me check the download page every day for an update. Some of the bugs are the non-autoplay dvd function so you always have to manually go into computer...
