VLC Lockup During Long-term Stream

I'm trying to use VLC to stream multicast RTP across a network. It is running on an x64 Windows 7 machine, and streaming out just fine. I can receive the stream on all computers in question--2 Windows (x86) machines, and 2 Ubuntu (x86) machines. At the start of the stream, all 4 systems are "eq...

Full Screen During Playlist Transition? (command line)

I have a playlist that I need to advance through. However, I don't want the screen to "flicker" and show the interface as well as the desktop wallpaper in between items. What is the best way to do this, preferably on the command line? Additional info: I am switching between a network strea...

Re: Having 0 Luck with libVLC (Ubuntu)

Thanks for the response. I didn't realize that libvlc-dev was outdated in Ubuntu. However, I can't figure out where to actually GET libvlc-dev from--I've seen plenty of documentation, but I have yet to see a place to get trunk versions of libvlc or libvlc-dev(el). If you could point me to the docume...

Having 0 Luck with libVLC (Ubuntu)

I'm trying to build the sample application listed at http://wiki.videolan.org/LibVLC_Tutorial in order to start working with LibVLC. That page was listed as the "current" libVLC version. I used apt-get to install libvlc-dev, vlc, vlc build dependencies, etc. However, I cannot seem to get a...

Command Line for Streaming RTP? (UPDATE)

I'm trying to figure out the exact command required to stream a/v out via RTP, using transcoding. I am really confused about the documentation, or something, because everytime I try: vlc.exe screen:// ":screen-fps=30.000000:screen-caching=300 :sout '#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=800,fps=30,width=85...

Re: Not Receiving RTP Stream

Not really intended as self-bumping, but to separate it from other posts: I have found that if I revert the IGMP version Fedora uses to v2 (default v3) I am able to detect them in Wireshark. However, I still don't RECEIVE anything, after the request to join the multicast group. Does anyone have any ...

Re: Not Receiving RTP Stream

So as not to confuse my post even more, I have found that it does seem to be a network issue, but I cannot understand it at this point. I am not sure if it is an issue with VLC, or an issue with Fedora, but running Wireshark I can detect IGMP packets from the Windows machine trying to join the group...

Re: Not Receiving RTP Stream

Thanks for the reply. I had overlooked this because I am a "lower-rung" employee (entry level) and was assured it was set up properly by my boss, the director of IT. I don't have access to these things or I'd check it myself. I should have known to trust VLC's reliability over his, haha......

Not Receiving RTP Stream

I posted earlier with another problem but now that that is resolved, I have another. At the moment, I am trying to receive an RTP (multicast) stream of some sort on a Fedora Core 12 VLC client. I am attempting to use an h.264 transcode for compression, but when I receive the stream on the other end,...

VLC 1.0.5 "option rtp-caching does not exist" (UPDATED)

**UPDATE** So, I found that I was able to compile and build from the Git repository, but not from the tar.gz file hosted on the web. HOWEVER, I am still unable to connect to an RTP stream on a multicast IP address and receive a VLC-x264-encoded a/v stream. If it matters, the stream originates in a W...
