You can update FF and Wine because Ubuntu provides updated backports for them.

No, I am using inofficial sources for them this has nothing to do with Canonical
Canonical only cares about security updates for FF.

No I don't blame them but for other softwares (Firefox/Wine...) I can update them with the "paketverwaltung" (sorry I don't know the englisch word) from ubuntu.

But if 1.0.7 ist releases i won't wait for the next Ubuntu update....

I am using Ubuntu and I have the problem that Ubuntu didn't uses the actual verison of VLC. Ubuntu uses still 1.0.2 but I like to use 1.0.5..... I still have an other problem (also in WIndows): If i minimize the VLC window (or miro which is bases on vlc) and I maximize it, I can't see anything. The ...
