Re: Stream a few tv chanels useing one TV CARD is it possibl

Is it possible to stream a few chanels useing one TV CARD and VLC, propably the special equipment is needed. If it's a DVB card and the 'radio' channel you are tuned to has multiple programs on the one 'multiplex', then yes. But the tuner can only recieve one 'radio' frequency at a time, so you can...

Re: Setting up a multicast stream on a switched network

However, I'm now trying to do the same on a larger (switched) network with approx. 1500 hosts. Althought interested parties could receive my streams without any problems, it soon became apparant (to the dismay of the network administrator), that the stream was broadcasted to every host. This is wha...

Other people haven't been so carefull I notice - we can currently get a number of Satelite TV channels via Canberra and at one point some one in the US was 'leaking' CNN. Gday Matthew. Actually, that's deliberate from Canberra. http://uctv.canberra.edu.au/Members/geo/news/uctv-available-australia-w...

Note the multicast addresses have been chosen in conjunction with my campus network manager to ensure the transmissions don't 'leak' out of our network and onto the internet, as we are connected to the 'mbone' and a bad choice of address and/or 'ttl' would have the transmissions available to other ...

Re: stream HDV ?

We have a Sony HDR-HC3 camera, capable of either DV or HDV 1080i output over Firewire. Is it possible to stream HDV MPEG2 from this camera in VLC ? If so, what recipe? The docs appear to discuss only DV format. As far as i'm aware all these cameras output DV video in various forms and not MPEG. The...

You want switches that support at leadt IGMP snooping else you will be flooding all the ports on your network. I'm multicasting multiple live video streams out of DVB cards. The network 'switches' support a combination of IGMP snooping and proprietory Cisco CGMP. I also have multiple network segmen...

It would appear there is some sort of memory leak in the DVB transport demux library. This leak gets worse in the face of errors. As a result I restart VLC on my 4 card streaming server in the early hours of the morning with a cron job. However there is also some sort of leak in the kernel DVB drive...

Thank you for your reply. Does anybody provide some possible solution for me. 802.11 WiFi and multicast streaming just don't go togther. Sending high bandwidth streams out of on a shared media network just isn't a good idea. It does work, I can watch a 5Mb/s DVB rebroadcast over the 802.11a WiFi at...

Any reason why you want to put an extra bit of software in the middle ? As when compiled with the right options, VLC is quite capable of getting data out of the DVB-t card by it self. The version of VLC up on freshrpm's isn't built with DVB support, but if you compile your own with the DVB options i...

I have the same problem. It seems it's looking for libX11.so under /usr/X11R6/lib while it should actually be looking at /usr/X11R6/lib64. Any ideas anyone? I've run into this before with other programs. Some developers never expected to find the X11 libs anywhere else on a Linux box, so hard coded...
