Swscale

So uh, what does Swscale do? And how does one make it do something? I thought it would change the image scaling algorithm. Liking changing from bicubic to lanczos or something. But I've never been able to get it to do anything. This guide indicated that it would only change the scaling mod if I used...

Re: 1.1.5 swscale Does Nothing!

Right. I know it's automatic, and I want to preserve that. I just want to change HOW it scales. That is the function of the "video scaling filter", i.e. swscale. Right? When I go full screen, I want it to use a scaling mechanism that is better for high resolution displays, something sharpe...

Bump

Comeon guys, work with me here. There is a ton of overlapping options in VLC. Like the 3 video scaling filters I mentioned above, not to mention the basic controls and on and on. Can someone give me a setup that works for them that I can try?

It was one of the first things I disabled. No effect.

1.1.5 swscale Does Nothing!

I've been using VLC for a long time as it gives me the best image quality for DVDs on my 1080p display. I'm picky, and I like a good upverting as opposed to sticking to the original res, and on a computer it's way more convenient to use scaling, and the Lancsoz scaling produces a nice result. Well, ...

Re: VLC 1.1.0 Hiccups

Uh, this is WAY too much information. Whenever it hiccups it adds dozens of lines to the messages. I'll try to grab what I can. Well, at first I thought an error correlated with it. And then I cleared the log and waited, it hiccuped, and no error was shown. So uh, I have no idea what's going on. The...

VLC 1.1.0 Hiccups

I have a curious and annoying little issue with the latest VLC media player. Two things. When running a DVD, VLC acts as though the video track is turned off for a second. So one moment it is playing fine, the next the window shrinks down and the video disappears, as though no video was being played...

Re: Skins - Alpha Channel Support

I am referring to true alpha channel support. Think Vista Aero, minus the blur. Allowing a partial transparency against the OS environment, and not against a background color, other element in the image, or anything of the sort.

Skins - Alpha Channel Support

I am a graphics designer and I use VLC alot. Best picture quality, small footprint, works great. I wanted to add some buttons and the like, maybe make a skin for it. But VLC doesn't have any alpha channel support! My skin theme idea relies on alpha channels, I can't really make it without it. So, my...
