can we replace the hieroglyphics with actual words?

can we replace the hieroglyphics with actual words? For reasons I cannont understand, software seems to like the symbols and pictures instead of good old fashioned drop down choices. I for one, cannot understand the squiggly lines and circles and dots on the buttons where a simple control at the top...

Re: Loop/repeat settings

There are buttons on the main toolbar that allow loop all, loop one and no loop. This does not present on the menu. Please add it. Also, the buttons do not show a hint of its current state and they seems to be NOT working. Thanks seconded. I have absolutely no idea what the current state of the loo...

Re: VLC for Dummies?

... time is better dedicated to improving the software, which profits millions of users than helping a single person on the forum. As such, any non-trivial question is likely to be ignored. That's life. " you can have the greatest software in the world but if you can't explain simply how to us...

Re: VLC for Dummies?

Oh, I totally agree. In fact, I do write whichever documentation my employer asks from me. But would you care to tell me how much your fellow military-contracted engineers are paid every month? I spent somewhere between 5 to 10 man-year worth of effort on VLC. For two T-shirts and one return medium...

Re: VLC for Dummies?

Isn't it amazing how people don't understand that volunteer developers have more interesting and motivating things to do that write howtos that will get obsoleted in no time? You're most welcome to work on the VideoLAN wiki if you find it incomplete. Just took a look at videoLAN wiki. I didn't even...

Re: VLC for Dummies?

I guess it depends on your priorities. If you want to be part of a development team basically wo...

Re: VLC for Dummies?

Isn't it amazing how techies don't understand the need for simple "how-to" guides to the easy stuff for beginners. For example: "how-to" guide to play a video with VLC player. step instruction: 1) open vlc player 2) click on Media --> open file 3) browse to the file you want to p...

Does VLC convert filetypes or not?

I'm very confused, first off On youtube there are tutorials all over the place showing a "wizard" and VLC used for converting filetypes, aka, flv to avi, but my version of VLC (1.0.3) doesn't have a wizard. If the "wizard" was removed, it would of been nice for backwards compatab...
