Maybe, but with most of the video files no. I mean subtitles should be down by default. I really dont know why when subtitles fucntion was implemented, was implemented to be a part of the video. You want see, if u see a movie on a TV channel, that subtitles are on the black line. It would be ridicul...

Noone said we don't want to fix. It is just very complex now, and it will be fixed, someday, but it requires quite some work from us.
i'll wait for that happy day when VLC will become the only player i'll use forever ;)) 10x for quick answer
