Re: 5.1 YouTube Support

Does anyone know where those Audio format IDs (my term) come from? I see examples where formats with same number of channels and channel order have different IDs, and also examples where a completely different codec has the same ID? e.g. m4a ids 256 and 258 have the same channel layout (per mediainf...

Re: 5.1 YouTube Support

And, speaking of dolby, I guess I should point out that there 2 playback configs that should be supported:

1) decode locally for playback in windows via windows sound (5.1)

2) bitstream over hdmi to an AVR or TV that supports Dolby decoding (or AAC LC???).

Re: 5.1 YouTube Support

Is there a preference or another...

Re: Dolby Atmos and VLC

Chiming in on related topic, besides being able to play video streams with pre-encoded Dolby Atmos I would like to be able to playback multichannel (discrete channels, not encoded) audio files via hdmi in up to 17 channels as described here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/m...

Internet Streaming of Surround Sound

Hi, I want to experiment with Internet streaming of 5.0 surround sound (Audio Only). I have had success with streaming DTS encoded wav files (44.1K sample rate) however that requires 1.6Mbps so is excessive. I have also been able to transcode to 6 channel mp4 at 512Kbps Questions: 1) When I start wi...
