It does seem strange; most other posts are about getting the buttons to show. HOwever it would be good to have an option either way.

Maybe it's a filetype issue. Perhaps the one video had the video or audio encoded with something that used an external decoder which caused the buttons to appear, and the other video didn't (it was decoded entirely by VLC), and so the buttons were not present. It would be great if we could copy a divx movie onto the ipad/iphone and stream it to the apple tv 2nd gen (converting it in realtime). the open source player miro already got a convert to h.264 function.

YES PLEASE! I love that feature of the ATI MMC (the file player and the TV app). It lets you turn the video window into a selectively transparent, click-through-able overlay on the screen. Basically the video just plays over top of whatever else you are doing, thus staying completely out of the way....

5000 videos in the playlist + random + next = crash

Prior to version 1 I was able to dump around 5000 videos in the playlist and watch them on random. Now, it force closes after the first video. Will this ever be fixed or am I doomed to use an old version forever.

Yes I will be able to. You see, if you click view, up at the top, and then click customize interface. You can actually take away some of the useless buttons.
