VLC crashes

VLC will crash if I'm in the Playlist and click on the Title/Album bar. This happens in all versions of Linux I run (Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian), and all Xwin managers I've used, i.e., Gnome and KDE, 32bit & 64bit. These are the environments in which this error occurs for me.

Apparently this was the problem. I'm new to Linux and didn't realise how much Ubuntu is missing when first installed.

VLC will not play my DVDs in the computer's DVD drive. It plays every video file I ask of it, but not the DVD in my drive. This puzzle's me.
