Re: cant open vlc file of a game download

i'm guessing the file is a bin file. this extenion is associated with vlc by default but is actually more commonly used as a cd image container or a compressed file. in windows explorer set your windows to show extentions for known file types that way you know what it actually is rather than just it...

Re: Running Multiple Instances of VLC

in the new vlc there is two options for multiple instances open the prefrences and go show all settings instead of simple (bottom left). the first window that pops up should have 3 check boxes at the bottom. the middle one is "one instance when started from file" simply uncheck it and save...

Re: Problem with playing full screen to TV Win 7

hit the windows key (super) and the letter p at the same time. it brings up the mode selection for projector or secondary monitor. this function is new in windows 7. select extend desktop and then open your video. drag it to the secondary screen (on the right side by default) put it completely on th...

Re: Playback sometimes choppy

Check your powersupply for over-voltage. its possible your card was fried by improper voltages coming through the system. also make sure your surgeprotector is working properly. i've seen a few suspicious problems like this that linked back to brownouts in the power. even 15 volts incorrect either w...

Re: Playback sometimes choppy

Interesting, integrated card or pci? did using digital fix it? because its possible that the dts encoding was just too much for your computer. it seems to be a common problem with dts, i guess the only way to decode it is with hardware and that only works if you have the right hd audio. i personally...

Re: Playback sometimes choppy

well if you don't have any software that allows you to split it then try reincoding small sections with handbrake until you make a file that is close enough in specs that also causes the problem. you should be able to figure out the encoding settings from the information you listed on the first post

Re: Icon and shortcut all turn into vlc!!! need help to fix.

system restore is the easiest, especially since he should have a restore point before installing vlc anyways. it will right where he wants to go back to. If all shortcuts are set to open with vlc it gets kind of hard to open any programs to change things, thats why I suggested system restore first.

Re: VLC problems with 1080p MKV files 8GB+

A dual core is not typically considered fast enough to run a 1080p video. if you get any fast frames you run into those blocks because it can't compute fast enough. a quad-core is standard accepted minimum for 1080p.

Re: Random Win7 locks-ups/freezes on playback

just a note, seagate drives are crap. ive had to replace way too many of those in the last few months. they start clicking, have trouble seeking and reading files randomly. over the last 3-4 years they have started using factories in china to create their drives and have cheaped out on a lot of part...

Re: Song stops playing before it's over.

more than likely your song is corrupt or a section is missing in the middle. if you downloaded it from somewhere check the size against the bitrate and length to make sure it lines up. As i came to this topic it reminded me though that vlc does stop all files about half a second before the end. with...

Re: Icon and shortcut all turn into vlc!!! need help to fix.

i saw someone do this before. you must have told a shortcut (.ink) to open with vlc therefore changing the associations to change all shortcuts to run with something as opposed to running themselves. (my friend actually did this with the executeables too (still havn't figured out how he managed to d...

Re: Windows 7 Crash on Buffer

Thats the thing, its every video file I have tried. It isn't every time however, only about every third time it will crash. And only if the file is the first one VLC has played since opening. If VLC has successfully played another file it will work fine but if it opens the first file either through ...

What would it be then, cause it is isolated to VLC. No other programs have this issue opening files and its a pain in the butt to have to end VLC's process 3 times before you open a video file to watch it

quadcore 4.0
Yeah... right....
Yeah it is right
its an AMD 965 Black Edition (normal 3.4) overclocked to 4.0, look it up its not that unheard of. People have gotten that cpu to 6 with liquid nitrogen. it is the fastest clocked cpu on the market so far.

Re: Windows 7 Crash on Buffer

I had tried that earlier and it didn't seem to change a lot, at most the frequency. But either way it is a problem that should be added to the list of known bugs, I'm not sure why other people haven't brought this up because I have seen it on multiple systems now. On a side note it might be x64 spec...

Re: PC to TV, Close Lid, Video Shifts

is it VLC itself that changes size or the whole screen, because closing the lid turns off a screen on the videocard causing the other monitor to become primary which you cannot disable. if there is only one screen on windows vista or above that screen becomes primary and will refresh. its possible t...

Re: AVC1 .mov 720p 60fps file jumpy

poor encoding format in combination with slow hardware, you can either rencode all these files to the standard 29.97fps in another codec (i reccommend xvid or x264) or get a faster cpu. I have a quadcore 4.0 and i was still hitting 30% running this file, however it was smooth.

Re: About Some movies cant play

the video is a bogus one and the link they tell you to go to is a phishing scam trying to get you to install their player instead of the actual vlc (notice the similarities in the name), the file is garbage, delete it and watch what you download.

Re: version 1.0.5 problems

are you running on an admin account, try running the setup by right clicking and run as admin, it seems that you have lost permissions for your program files directory. you may want to also do a virus scan its possible this was caused by malware.
