Re: VLC fails to play DVB-T h264/mp2 broadcast (mplayer can)

Will the the nightly version clash with the default Ubuntu VLC?
Do I have to remove default version first?
Anyone? I don't really want to mess up my system if I don't have to.

Re: Help me record this stream in linux

Have you tried mplayer?

To record it you'd use something like:

Code: Select all

$ mplayer mms://"WSHAStreamer17.shawu.edu/WSHAFM88.9 Live Stream" -dumpstream -dumpfile recording.ts
Not sure why kind of stream it actually is.
I put it down as .TS.

Re: VLC fails to play DVB-T h264/mp2 broadcast (mplayer can)

Maybe some more info and logs might help. My system: Kernel: 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 bits: 64 gcc: 7.2.0 Quad core Intel Core i5 Intel HD Graphics 530 The main VLC debug log for trying to 'play' live DVB-T broadcast is 2 MB and is too big for pastebin. So i have to try find some where to upload it ...

VLC fails to play DVB-T h264/mp2 broadcast (mplayer can)

I have two DVB-T USB TV dongles. VLC has never been able to play TV with them. VLC can scan and generate a frequency playlist. But not 'play' any stations. If I load the playlist and click on one of the stations it will display the current program in VLC title bar but no picture or sound. So I tried...

Re: Audio M4A sounds bad since update to 2.0.4

do the 4 others of you that still notice the problem want to check the recent nightlies (vlc-2.0.5-20121212-0203) to see if that fixes the problem for you like it did for xplo? I can't see the exact one you specified so I downloaded the nearest one I could find vlc-2.0.5-x86_64-20121212-0314.zip. T...

Re: demux MPEG2 TS and transcode

I can't help you regarding demuxing with VLC however there is a great little Java app called ProjectX (see here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ProjectX and here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/project-x/ ) that can demux MPEG2 TS. It is very good because a lot of programs that demux TS files can l...

Re: Demuxing (file splitting) with VLC

Thanks for the reply Rémi. I'm sorry but I haven't got a clue what you mean by 'smem' stream output. And you are right, I just want to demultiplex but not decode. I've googled smem stream but what I've turned up is hard to understand: http://www.videolan.org/developers/vlc/doc/doxygen/html/smem_8c.h...

Re: How to demux .flv?

Quicktime (QT) is in transition from the 'old' architecture used in Quicktime 7 to the 'new' architecture used in Quicktime X. Because of this not everything that is present in previous versions of Quicktime are present in the current version. As time goes on we should see less and less need for Qu...

Re: How to demux .flv?

like i said before, just open the flv file in quicktime player (with perian installed). CMD+J will open the properties window and you can extract each track from there. When I try CMD+J nothing happens. I have scanned down through the menus (File, Edit, View, Share, Window) and I can't see any func...

Re: How to demux .flv?

Thanks ajamas. Yeah there are a few work arounds. However, I would like to be able to demux the flv. I saw a Windows only app called FLV extract which seems to more or less demux the audio and video... so it is possible. Good tip about Adobe forums. I will take a wander over there and see what I can...

Re: How to demux .flv?

Well I want to demux it so that I can access the video and audio streams seperatly and if I want to remux it later there will be no loss of quality or re-encoding involved .
It is the demuxing part that I'd like to be able to do. Is it even possible in theory to demux flv files?

Re: How do I convert .ts files to MPEG2?

I use this method:http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=149827. Just stop after step (2) and you'll have your MPEG2 file.

Its important to use Projext X to 'demux' the .ts file first. ProjectX fixes any synchronization problems that may have happened while the .ts was being broadcast.
