Re: Can VLC delay video from streaming services?

I have figured out how to delay the video w.r.t. the audio for prerecorded movies, but I have not figured out how to pass streaming services through VLC in real time. Is such an input allowed?

Can VLC delay video from streaming services?

Hi-- My new Bluetooth headphones introduce a delay in the audio, causing lip sync to be off when I watch streaming services such as YouTube, Netflix and Facebook. The people at RogueAmoeba suggested that VLC might be able to add a corresponding delay in the video. Can it, do you think? I just downlo...

Alternate subtitles or captions no work-ee

Hi-- Using VLC 2.1.4 under MacOS 10.6.8, I have a (noncommercial) DVD with subtitles that display fine. However, I wish to use my own subtitles for a particular presentation because, frankly, they are better. To show the movie with the DVD's own subtitles, I... -Insert the DVD disc -Launch VLC 2.1.4...

Subtitles Speed Not Varying

I found a parameter in my UI that looked useful, so I tried varying it. It didn't seem to do anything. So I looked it up in the documentation. Other parameters on the same window were described, but this one wasn't. I suppose that, although the window design is complete, manipulation of that paramet...

Re: Cannot Turn Subtitles Off By Default

Hmm. I was browsing the documentation on another matter and I came across this:

https://wiki.videolan.org/VSG:Subtitles:Disable/

Perhaps you can use it.

Re: VLC 2.0.1 isn't working

"soon to be released 2.0.2"--

I don't mind waiting. I'm glad to learn that it might not be something I did.

Thanks to the people who are working on this.

VLC 2.0.1 isn't working

This problem started when I downloaded and installed Version 2.0.1 Twoflower (Intel 64bit). It did not happen when we were using an older VLC version, before I upgraded a month or so ago. It happens on various DVDs. (I've tried at least three now.) It does not happen with DVD Player Version 5.2. It ...

VLC crashes on seeing .flv file

I had a problem and found a fix, so I thought I'd post it here. I have two Macs, a MacBook and a Mac Mini*. I had downloaded a .flv off the web (using Downloadhelper with Firefox) onto an external drive attached via FireWire to the Mini. From my MacBook, after connecting to the Mini over my LAN, VLC...

Re: Using .srt file with DVD problem

Did you try to open the DVD with "no menus" option? I hadn't, but I tried it. Didn't seem to make any difference. Here's what I did, in detail: 1. Inserted DVD. (Autostart not enabled.) Waited for DVD icon to appear on the desktop. 2. Launched VLC 1.1.5 from the Dock. 2. Typed Command-D. ...

Re: Using .srt file with DVD problem

We use both DVD Player and VLC for our movie watching. We generally prefer VLC, mostly for the extended "gamma" control. Our projector does not have enough range on this control, and it's very nice to have this control in software. When we don't have enough gamma (like when we use DVD Play...

Re: Random ugly fat gray illegible subtitles (Pride and Glor

I had the fat subtitles problem with a couple DVDs. Both were from Warner Bothers. Coincidence?

DVD Player showed the movie with subtitles just fine, though, on both of them.

Re: Fat subtitles

A few more things... # I Quit VLC, ran the "Delete VLC Preferences" script, and relaunched VLC. No help. # Another DVD (Where The Wild Things Are) has similar symptoms. # A third DVD (Sordid Lives) works fine. # Both the do-not-work movies are from Warner Brothers and are relatively new. #...

Fat subtitles

We really like VLC and use it for most of our movie watching. The mostest greatest feature is Window -> Extended Controls -> Gamma. There's nothing else that will help the "black crush" on our projector, but this control eliminates "black crush" completely. :-) Most movies, the S...
