I realize this thread is rather old, but I'm having the exact same issue. I've tracked it down to the fact that the audio is 7.1, and my speakers are 2.1, so I'm only listening to two of seven channels. If I [mis]configure pulseaudio, and set it to "7.1 output", I'll hear to some two diffe...

Hi! I'm using VLC 1.03 (" VLC media player 1.0.3 Goldeneye ") on Fedora 12 (" 2.6.31.6-166.fc12.x86_64 ". I've configured VLC with a couple of global hoykeys I used in my previous OS, including ctrl+alt+home (play), ctrl+alt+end (stop), and more. When I press them, nothing happen...
