Does anyone actually read these damn messages? From what I've seen, 0.9.8a has turned to pure krap. Nothing works the way it used to. Revert to version 0.8.6 and you should be fine.

Same here. Since upgrading to 0.9.8a, all of the Tutorials are out of date since the new version's GUI and internal menus have changed. Would really appreciate an up to date streaming doc.

I am attempting to stream a video file with VideoLan to my local IP (127.0.0.1:8080) using the HTTP option, and using Windows Media Player 10 as a reciever. When I attempt to Open URL with WMP as http://127.0.0.1:8080, the player aborts with the error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play ...

Quicktime media files can hide links to websites and files within the
stream itself, which leads me to believe that the movie redirected your computer to a hidden website and downloaded the trojan files while it was playing.
I normally use Graphedit to scan movie files for these links.

I would suggest XVid MPEG-4 for the best quality at the highest compressability.
