It's hard because Apple made it so hard to support it.
It will get fixed eventually, but as long as noone sents me a G5, i'm not really motivated and I have more pressing issues.

Actaully by setting VLC to Core Auio, SPDIF works fine and I am now using my mAudio device with optincal output (SPDIF active) working fine. Please see previous comment/advice. H With coreaudio VLC & AC3 doesn't work and I have done everything advised in the READ ME... http://forum.videolan.org...

Can't have Divx AC3 5.1 sound with VLC

Hi, i have an iMac G5 with optical out and I succeed in reading DVD with AC3 5.1 sound (with the Apple software). But with VLC, I can't obtain the Home Cinema sound... I have read the READ ME and the settings are ok (CORE AUDIO + SYSTEM correctly set) and as it works with iDVD with the same settings...
