I only go through this with bought DVD. If I place a DVD in the computer which I made, I don't have this problem. ".VOB " files will not play. This are the filles on bought DVDs.

VLC media player 1.0.5. Goldeneye.
Concerning the location, I copied directly from the location given in properties.

Each time I open VLC I get that there is an update. After I click ok to get the update a window comes up to download the update. I choose download folder for the file but I get the folder can not be opened to download. I then chose other folders still the download cannot happen. What am I to do?

I click to get upgrades. I then get a drive to pick to save the file. Any location I pick to save the file, I receive a message that the download failed. What am I doing wrong or how do I get upgrades?
