Re: How does one enable CDDB support

Very weird... It just means that it didn't find a match
That cannot be the problem, DVBViewer uses the same freedb database & gets tracklisting every time I have tried, VLC gets it hardly ever.

This was always the case in VLC.
Any reason why?

.TS TV recordings do not display time /progress

Haven't noticed this before so maybe a new bug with 1.1.8, .TS files, MPEG2 or H.264 do not show time progress in bottom right corner, just 00:00.

Re: How does one enable CDDB support

I'm talking about the Simple Preferences (All is UNticked) then in the Interface section scroll down to the bottom of the right panel. OK I see, but if I select 'As soon as track is added' or 'When track starts playing' it does not crash but neither setting loads album art or track listing. (using ...

Re: How does one enable CDDB support

The volunteers are waiting for your help. Did you try to force the port to 80 ? Yes, this didn't help unfortunately, I would like to help but I am not a programmer as I'm sure most people who post here aren't. Would changing the caching value help? It's tied to the Interface -> Privacy / Network in...

Re: How does one enable CDDB support

Subject says it all. CDDB never worked. I gave up on it. It hasn't worked at all up till recently, now it's partially working I'm not giving up yet :) ! Using the same freedb database, DVBViewer gets the track info every time so it's not a problem with freedb, please get this fixed soon VLC.... DVB...

Re: How does one enable CDDB support

Look at the logs Where are these located (on Windows 7)? The freedb feature seems a bit flaky, I just put a CD in, played and it successfully loaded the tracks, but it kept giving me different album art for each track- why would there be separate art for each track, surely it should just give the s...

Re: Can't play CDs in 1.1.4 The Luggage

Where can I find "Allow fetching media information from internet" without reinstalling? I hope VLC fix this bug soon anyway.
Could be Tools-Preferences-Interface-Album art download policy? Not sure though, you may need to reinstall.

Re: Can't play CDs in 1.1.4 The Luggage

Just tried it myself, and it works, CDs run fine from autoplay, from explorer, or opening within VLC- Open Disc, so the track info fetching part is obviously is what is causing the problem.

Re: Can't play CDs in 1.1.4 The Luggage

It's a known problem, see here
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=82467

it looks like if you don't select "Allow fetching media information from internet" when you install it might work, but you'll get no track info obviously.

Re: 1.1.4 CD Autoplay?

I had the same problem with 1.1.3 and 1.1.4... today I tried a couple of things to get it working again. I managed to get the cd playing by reinstalling VLC, and then unchecking the "Allow fetching media information from internet" box that appears the first time you run VLC. I've been try...

Re: 1.1.4 CD Autoplay?

I've tried to run autoplay on a music CD in 1.1.4 on two different computers, multiple times. I also tried 'play disc' for the same CD. Crashes to desktop every time. Windows 7 Home Premium for both computers. No previous version I tried it with had this issue, either... The only way I got it to pl...

listed on bug tracker but priority changed from high to normal, surely playing CDs is a pretty important thing for a stable release of a media player?

Re: v 1.1.0 Fails to play audio cd .cda files

Autoplay just passes some parameters to VLC. So if

Code: Select all

vlc.exe --started-from-file cdda://X:
(where X is the drive letter of CD drive) works, then it is OK.
So can you explain why the debug version works but the exe does not?

Re: v 1.1.0 Fails to play audio cd .cda files

Can you run it through gdb? OK I downloaded the 19th Aug debug version from here http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/branch-20100819-0203/ I am just running it from a folder, and the Media>Open Disc>Audio CD seems to work fine, which doesn't work if I install the exe. Re: VLC 1.1.3 Doesnt play CDs

Can you share an .iso of this CD?
I think this is rather unreasonable to ask people to upload 500MB+, the point is it happens on ALL CDs.

Re: v 1.1.0 Fails to play audio cd .cda files

I'd definitely uninstall 1.1.4 fully (delete cache and preferences). I'd also fully remove get_iplayer and any additionally installed components (I.e. make sure 1.0.5 is fully removed too)... then re-install 1.1.4 and see what happens  I'd like to think this will fix some of the audio CD issu...

Upload a CD audio image sample that we can burn to reproduce. It happens with every single CD so not much point, one thing that occurred to me, I have get_iplayer ( http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer/html/get_iplayer.html ) that installed vlc 1.05 as part of its installation, could that be confli...

Re: VLC 1.1.1 Win XP keeps crashing

v 1.1.3 the problem s still there. For testing purposes i did a clean sweep of my system, removing all previous codec /pack installations I could, to no avail.
Codec packs can't affect VLC as it is not a Directshow player.

Upon rechecking with other audio cd's, I see that VLC media player does play the CD if I right click the cd in Windows Explorer and select from the menu "play with VLC media player". It also now plays in VLC, when I select, Media, Open Disc, Audio CD, Play. However, if I double click a si...

No response? Surely playing albums/CDs correctly is a pretty important feature  ? I am pretty sure this has been broken since at least 1.1.0.
