breeder: It looks like to me that you don't really have multi-monitor support but something more like "display cloning" support. In this case I fear that the problem lies with your graphics card not supporting "overlay" on both displays at the same time. One solution is as you al...

Thanks for all your feedback.

I found a problem (last one ? ;) with the multi-monitor support.
Can you all try this version and tell me if it works any better ?

If you compiled the wxWindows interface, you'll be able to access this list and modify the key bindings as well in the preferences panel.

You can also access the list in the config file if you already saved your preferences (~/.vlc/vlcrc).

Vroem: That likely means you are behind a firewall. As Anil said, --rtsp-tcp should work in that case.

breeder: what kind of setup do you have exactly ? (dual head, multi-monitor ?)

I'm asking because I can't see anywhere in the log that VLC was moved to a second monitor. When VLC detects this it should restart part of the directx output but here it doesn't.

I've got the feeling that it was a problem with your VLC config file.
BTW you can "Reset" it from the VLC preferences panel.

Honestly this info is pretty useless.

Could you give us some more info like:
- Which version of VLC
- Is this crash reproduceable
- What did you do to make VLC crash

The GDI output is only designed as a test video output and is not actually useful because it is painfully slow and lacks lots of features (like resizing). Please try this version (with the default/directx video output): http://www.videolan.org/pub/testing/win32/vlc-0.7.0-test2-20031216-win32.zip It ...

Ok, solved the problem.

I'm currently re-uploading the (fixed) binaries for 0.7.0-test2 win32.

I also noticed the size problem with the interface. This seems like a random behaviour here (happens once every 5 or more runs). This change in behaviour compared to 0.7.0-test1 is due to the use of an updated wxWindows library (before we were using one dating back from last july). I'll check if I c...

I uploaded a test version with a little bit more debug messages. I'd be interested to have the log messages for when you move the video window between the 2 screens.

Hmmm. might be a problem with the samplerate of your soundcard input.
Try to play with the "samplerate=" option in the v4l input options.

What do you mean with "since 2 months ?" Did it use to work with VLC before that. If so, what did you change exactly ? I would advise you to first try to "reset" your VLC preferences. If this doesn't work, you can have a try at the latest test version: http://www.videolan.org/pub...

Mplayer does a lot of caching before playing the file, this is why it is working fine.

Sounds like a speed/bandwith connection problem.

There is an option to increase the caching of the file "access" plugin in the preferences panel. Try it, it might improve things.
