I think the way to do it would be to catch a stream(voice or video) and send it by using protocols like UDP,RTP or TCP/IP through IP.

DVD menus support is supposed to be _a lot_ better in the development version (nightly builds available at http://www.videolan.org/~videolan/).

Could you upload a test sample in ftp://streams.videolan.org/incoming and tell us the file name when you're done ?

The DirectX video output is in fact using DirectDraw directly (which is part of DirectX).

If you have problems with it, try to describe exactly what's happening. Some logs from the "Messages" window would be useful as well.

A DTS bitstream contains specific markers so we just try to look for these.
As for the DTS decoding capability, it is based on libdts.

VLC can play VOBSUB in MKV or MP4 but doesn't support them in RAR.

VLC should be able to do what you want (supports re-muxing / audio transcoding / video transcoding).

I don't think the logo plugin is included in the nightly builds... will need to be fixed.

This is definitely on the TODO list but I don't know when we'll get around to do it.

Not really.

You might be able to watch the VTS files separately but that's not really handy as a movie is usually composed of several of them so you'll have cuts in your playback.

VLC can read DVD iso files so you don't need an additionnal tool.
And there even is no need to decrypt the dvd when ripping it, just a simple copy to the HD is enough because VLC will automatically crack the encryption if there is any.

Could you try to go into the preferencs -> modules -> interface -> wxwindows and disable "Embed video in interface".
After that, restart VLC and try to play something again. Is it any better ?

I had a look, this file is an MPEG video elementary stream. VLC can play it fine if you force the mpgv demuxer (vlc /mpgv:the_office.mpg). The upx compression in 0.7.2 is only done during the packaging stage so by simply doing a make, you have a noupx version. It is still under development. Some rate control was added very recently for instance.

You shouldn't have to touch this option. --minimize-threads is already enabled by default for the cases where it doesn't hurt (like streaming to a file). For most cases this option will hurt performance (especially video playing).

Another option that might help, in preferences -> misc -> "Increase the priority of the process".

Try to enable this one.
