How to playback as fast as possible

Hi, I'm using libvlc under windows. I'm trying to find a work around for the fact that when seeking to a specific time in a h.264 file, VLC jumps to any frame, not an I-frame. This leaves me with some annoying artifacts. My files are h.264 encoded, with an I-frame interval of 1.2 seconds. (It comes ...

Difference between libvlc 2.08 and 2.1

Hi,
is there some documentation on the differences between libvlc 2.08 and 2.1?
My code works well until the version 2.08. From 2.1 onwards it stopped working, but I don't get any error messages.

I'm using libvlc on a Windows 32-bit OS.

Re: Network buffer and live playback delay

OK,
and is the input buffer flushed when the player is stopped?
So, if I understand correctly, after I start the player, the buffer is filled and then playback starts?
Then why is the playback delay not constant? What should I do to have a constant delay?

Network buffer and live playback delay

Hi all, I'm trying to achieve the following, but I'm afraid I'm making some wrong assumptions. I have a video capture device that captures live video, I then transcode to mpeg2, TS, send it over the localhost, using udp. Then I use a vlc player instance that connects to this udp stream. I don't need...

Re: Playback from capturing device gives crackling audio

I suspect it has to do with a loss of synchronisation between audio and video. When I use ffmpeg, I notice a delay of the audio with respect to the video of about ms. (audio late). I suspect that ffmpeg, just leaves this as is, and that vlc tries to compesate for this by resampling. Is there a possi...

Playback from capturing device gives crackling audio

Hi, I'm trying to playback from my Avermedia Live Gamer Portable (C875), using playback from capturing device, using Dshow. The video is fine, but the audio is crackling. Looking at the debug info there seems to be a synchronistion or resampling problem. I'm using VLC 2.1.3 on Windows 7 32 bit. I ha...

I have submitted a bug for it.
I would love to help solving. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with the vlc code to do it myself, but I can test.

Re: VLC freeze when the webcam unplug

I'm suffering from the same problem. Any progress on this? Is there a way to detect the system hangs? If so, I could try to kill the tread the hard way?

Re: Is libvlc_media_player_next_frame jump to next I-frame?

And is there any chance there will be a way in the near future?
Even better would be to jump to the previous I-frame. This is needed if you want to jump to a specific frame or time in h264 files. If you jump to any frame that is not an I-frame, you get a lot of artifacts.

I-frame seeking

Hi, I need to seek to a given position in a h264 encoded video file. The problem is that this results in very bad image quality for several seconds. I'm using libvlc 2.08 32 bit on Windows 7. My whole system relies on jumping back and forward in videos, so I'm desperately hoping for this solution. I...

Re: Video stops playing, but sound still OK

I use the option --no-direct3d-hw-blending and now it works fine.
So, it seems something got broken in the direct3D HW blending in VLC2. Or maybe in the subtitle module.

Video stops playing, but sound still OK

Hi, I'm using VLC 2.0.5 (all previous vlc2.x versions behave similarly), and the libvlc that ships with it. I have a directory full of small video clips: mpeg2, mux=asf. I have a program that loads the clip, then jumps to a specific location and plays back. When I do this, the first 30 cilps or so a...

Logitech HD C620 Pro native H.264

Hi, has anyone been able to play the native h.264 stream of the Logitech HD C620 Pro in vlc? Using DirectShow, I only get the folowing out of it: Codec: Planar 4:2:0 YUV (I420) Resolution: 1203x1536 Framerate: 2 The specs says it has full 1080p at 20fps hardware encoded h.264, but I have no clue how...

Hi, I'm trying to chain two video-filters: deinterlace and transform. Whatever syntax i'm trying, only one of the two works, never both. Below is what I tried: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --video-filter=transform,deinterlace{mode=linear} --transform-type=hflip "C:\Users\Pi...

Logo functionality broken in VLC2.0.3?

Hi all,
I'm trying to use libvlc_video_set_logo_int(MediaPlayer, libvlc_logo_position,2) to change the position of the logo while playing, but nothing happens.
It seems that none of the libvlc_video_set_logo_int functions do anything in VLC2.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hi all, I'm trying to mirror video during playback. These options work "--vout-filter=transform", "--transform-type=hflip", but then the subtitles are mirrored too. using the option "--video-filter=transform", "--transform-type=hflip", doesn't do anything. I'm...

Hi all, I used to call libvlc_media_player_set_time() with the previous version of libVLC, without problems. With version 2.0 I get mpeg_decode_postinit() failure. This seems to be an ffmpeg problem. I'd love to, but I have no clue how to do it.
I found this function in the libvlc documentation, but how do I link this to lua?
libvlc_video_set_logo_string(...)

IF you can give me e few hints, I may be able to do so.

Re: dshow:// duplication

Well, I have only 1 recording device: the camera through dshow://
The problem is that I cannot have 2 vlc instances recording simultaneously from the same dshow device. At least not for all devices. It does not work for an AVERMedia HDMI frame grabber.
