New development: if I logon, go back to the login page without signing off (via "Switch Users"), then log back in later, it works fine... :?

For us it is hard to figure out the reason for the crash without debug info. Tell me about it... normally, I'd disable all the software that might interfere with the program... but, since I don't know, I have to go through them all one-by-one, I guess... I've downloaded gdb... I'll see if I can fig...

I'm more geared toward hardware troubleshooting, if you know what I mean...

This happens even if you just open VLC once, close it immediately, restart computer and start VLC? Yes... I can't figure out what errors there might be because if I don't reset the cache files, the program won't open... once I clear the cache and reset the preferences, it works just fine... no othe...

Crashing on Startup...

I'm using 1.0.2 on Windows XP SP3, and everytime I try to open VLC after I restart my computer, it crashes unless I reset the preferences and cache files... it wouldn't be so bad if it did this every once in a while, but every time I try to open it without reseting, it simply crashes... Anyone have ...

Of course, now my problem is: everytime I restart my computer, if I don't reset all my preferences to default before opening VLC, it just crashes, every time...

What peeves me is that some things that worked before the new release suddenly don't... for example, VLC used to remember, in the Open File menu, whether you set the View File setting to Thumbnails, Icons, etc. Now, it just defaults back to Thumbnails every time you exit and start again.
