The checkmark always disappears from that checkbox whenever I exit and re-open VLC on my computer. Perhaps this behavior is being caused by a bug; I cannot find any such bug in the http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/search?q=&ticket=on database. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

Thank you j-b for your most recent reply. Although I really appreciate your help thus far, I think that you and I are miscommunicating. I have already tried going Tools => Effects and Filters => Video Effects and checking "Image Adjust". Sadly, this setting is automatically turned off agai...

Thank you for replying j-b... I assume that you mean Tools => Preferences (showing all settings) => Video => Filters? If yes, which checkboxes should I activate. And, if needed, what arguments should I use? Thanks again for your willingness to help!
