Re: Option to display FILE NAMES instead of META TAGS

What am I missing? I can't post a New message, I don't see a button or link. The only place I can post is in response to an existing thread. Anyway, my issue is - File names are not listed in my playlist. Filename 6YwwsI78O.mp3 displays as 20cb4f5q7324c91 ("Title")! I don't know where this...

Re: VLC 2.2.0 -rc2 Weatherwax

I can't find a "Post" option to create a new post. Am I blind? Have to go via "Post Reply"! I have the sparkling new 2.2.0 Weatherwax, but (besides the snapshot problem raised in another stream) I have a problem with Logo position: it doesn't make any difference, the logo is alwa...

Re: VLC 2.2.0 - Snapshots not stretched anamorphically

I'm using rotate to get portrait format, & snapshot is really quite hilarious! (9:16 stretched to about a standard 4:3 it seems). Also, snapshots save as a file named "VLC" with no extension (whether I configure it as .png or .jpg; I have to add this manually), and ignores the default ...

Re: rotate subs in VLC 2.2.0?

Try a .ass sub format. You can code .ass to display vertically, but I haven't tested how VLC interprets it.

Re: New user - how to rotate the movies;they come in sideways

I've ticked "Rotate" in Advanced Preferences > Video, & typed in 90° in Filters > Rotate, but it doesn't change anything. I thought there might be an additional Rotate button somewhere, but don't see one. ? OK, I downloaded 2.2.0 & found Rotate in Tools > Adjustments & Effects ...

Re: VLC won't play my blu rays

This is why so many people cannot be bothered paying for legal BDs/DVDs any more. I cannot get my expensive new BBC Wonders Collection BluRay to play, so will end up watching it on a cracked copy somewhere. Excessive DRM controls just encourage piracy cos the pirates are the only ones who know how t...

Re: Always fit window

It's not what I'd call self-evident. I had the same problem as above with the video opening shrunk to some ad-hoc window size, I unchecked auto scaling but the window size is the same & I've got a tiny bit of a HD video in it. I'm about halfway there so far. Found it! So, to know how to get the ...

Re: "Record" Default Directory change

To change record directory:
Tools / Preferences / Input & Codecs / Files: Record Directory or Filename

Spent all last night trying to find this & now found it from the above link this morning, so here^^ is what the link actually says.

Integration in Windows & Apple

Microsoft & Apple should just shelve their WMP & Quicktime, both twisted lumps of useless lard, and integrate and optimise for the all-purpose, multi-platform VLC.

It would make life sooooo much easier for everyone.

Put it to them, Videolan!

Re: Sound lag / stutter

Found a tip that worked for me, I had Sound stutter in video, but audio files OK. (XP) ever since the upgrade to the "Luggage" Tried all different settings w/o success - and of course winamp, WMP, players inside dumb programs, web video.. all OK. Grr.. but i don't like them i like VLC! It...

Media browser times total

For my purposes, it would help a great deal if in addition to times of each file, there was a total at the bottom. E.g., will they all fit on my disk/dvd/in my budget, etc.?

Re: How to demux .flv?

Is it just me or does any one else find the QucikTime "suite" mighty f*&@ing confusing? There is QuickTime 7, there is QuickTime player 7, there is QuickTime 7 pro, there is QuickTime X and there is QuickTime player 10. QuickTime player 10 won't play QTVR but QuickTime player 7 will ?...

Subtitle line too long

When I load an srt file in VLC, the top line is about 120% of the video screen width, meaning the end bits don't show. I can't find any way of setting this. And I don't have the same problem on another PC with the same files. How do I set line width? Either in terms of screen width % or no. of chara...

Re: Subtitle font big and not visible fully / line width

Are you sure the subtitles weren't embedded on ripping? Can you turn them off? I don't see much in Preferences that's related to DVD subtitles. I have a similar problem, playing MP4 files with .srt subtitles: The subtitles are centred but too wide. There is an automatic line return but a full line, ...

Very good Q & I'm looking for the same info. Although the question itself was informative, thank you.

Couldn't find anything more on the FAQ or the Wiki. I'm surprised because it seems like a fairly common function.
