I can't I can only try PAL FullHD oh and I could get a 720p trailer as well. I will report if the error occurs on 720p too. I think below 720p it starts, because at 720p there is a little mosaic too. Yes. I made screenshots of a PAL avi and a PAL Mpeg and there is no issue with jpeg screenshots. I don't think that it is an deinterlace problem, because when deinterlace is activated it is pixelated too.

Direct 3d is already set.
Direct x disables win aero design and stll pixelation.

Open GL works, but then the snapshots look blue. And I need the snapshot function

Ok, with Bob deinterlace it looks like this and it seems to play faster than normal speed.

It looks horrible. Especially on mpegs. Most of the avis I own, look quite good.
Here is an example of how an Mpeg looks at my VLC.

If I use Open GL an take a snapshot with VLC's built in feature to make snapshots of the video, then the snapshots are in blue-ish color. In normal-non-OpenGL mode the picture looks fine

OpenGL will result in Screenshots in wrong colors.
And Direct X will disable Aero.

So, no options for me at all

I am on Win7 x64 an using an ATI Video Card with the latest driver 9.9 I have this pixelation, too. But only in VLC. I could use the OpenGL workaround, but then taken screen shots have the wrong color (I think inverted). The pixelation is independent of the filetype but i think deinterlaced material...
