No. I was adding to the Media Library. But only an error is generated - and nothing shows in the Media Library window. However, if I then look at the Playlist, the top level folders - Artists - are there, and double clicking on each there expands them to show the songs and they will play.

Tested in the latest 1.1.x rc3 and cannot add a network drive (samba share) to Media Library. Just finished testing in 1.2.0-git-20100614-0002 Twoflower, and the problem is there as well. Hmmm. That shows a trac ticket that was closed with resolution in VLC 1.0.1 but I'm seeing the problem in 1.0.2.

I've downloaded the latest trunk nightly from last night and will report back if the error is fixed in that version.
