That was the workaround for slow mkv on snow leopard right ? Then that change was already done.

Me again, I've 'remux' an mkv extracting subs and embedded fonts.
Got no problems playing the file.

By the way I tried to play .avi files with external .srt and got no problems.

Same problem here (VLC 1.0.2 64bits)
But It's just with the simple view.With the advanced view it works like a charm.
