The angel menu only makes sense on multi-angle dvds (which are very uncommon). The programs menu is used for streams with several channels multiplexed into one stream, mainly dvb.

For "normal" movies these menus have no real function.

try removing vlc preferences file (or resetting preferences with the gui). Try reducing volume in vlc or anywhere else there is a volume control that affect the playback. If that don't work, try opening the messages window while playing and post any messages there here

make sure you don't have any old remains of ffmpeg hanging around(like if you have run make install previously). then run make clean or make distclean in the ffmpeg sources before running configure --enable-pp and building ffmpeg. This should work

does this happen when you past the filename into the "open file" part of the open dialog? Does it also happen if you use the "browse" feature to select the name? Btw, handling international filenames is sort of complicated. We are working on it, but it's sort of slow progress.

It does not. It should however be able to play files captured with other applications. Also, if you know some objective-c programming, this should not be hard to implement. Many reasources have been made available and much discussion have been done on how to implement this, but bottom line is that n...

It is a general and well known fact that an operating system should not crash due to what any application does. you should request a fix from microsoft, or more likely whoever developed the driver for your webcam.
