If you didn't install it then you won't have that menu option... You can do this instead: Open a command prompt... (Start menu->Run... Type "command", press enter...) Change directory to where vlc is located... cd "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC" Reset the config by launching vlc ...

Open vlc, click the View->"Stream and media info" menu item...

Then open the file and it'll tell you what it is.

Or whatever the folder name of dvd videos is called...

Modify your shortcut to vlc to include:


--intf=skin2 playlist.m3u

As for the normal volume:

Settings->Prefences->Audio.
Default audio volume: Change that value to your liking...

Not sure about the other bits...

I use ATL+LEFT and ALT+RIGHT for going back and forward a bit in the movie...

When you install vlc you can associate vlc with all file types if you like, just install it again and check the file types you want.

Open VLC.
Setings->Prefences.

Click Advanced Options.

Input / Codecs->Access modules->File

Caching value in ms: 300

Lower it to 50 and see if that helps.

You can also use the --file-caching option, e.g.
vlc --file-caching=50 file.mp3

--sub-track <integer> Choose subtitles track

I've tested the following in a dos prompt and it works:

C:\progra~1\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe --sub-track=1 "[V-A]_Daphne_in_the_Brilliant_Blue_01_[09EC772E].mkv"

There's an "allow only one instance" option that you can set.

Open VLC, goto Settings->Preferences.
Click the Advanced Options tickbox.
Goto Advanced, Other.
Tick "Allow only one running instance"
Click Save and close VLC.

It'll now work the way you want.
