Stop vlc mounting dvd linux

I'm using LM xfce 19.3 32-bit. I don't want VLC as my go-to player tho' VLC is useful in many ways and that's why I installed it (my dvd player of choice is Celluloid). For some reason, VLC started playing/loading dvds automatically. I had to find a hidden-away setting to partially fix the issue: ht...

Extract only specific SEGMENT of audio/video file

Using the VLC's Media>Save/Convert feature, I know how to convert (extract) the WHOLE FILE. But, I only need to extract (convert) only a small part (e.g., the end credits music from a movie). Is it possible to configure VLC to rip only a chunk (for my particular case, I have an AVI file but this req...

Which audio FORMAT is being played?

I have a DVD (playing ripped files from hard-drive) with native DTS, 5.1, and Linear PCM (2-ch) audio. In VLC, I can select amongst them via HotKey ["b"] or Audio > Audio Track > (Disable, Track 1, Track 2, Track 3). Problem is, "Track 1", "Track 2", "Track 3"...

Re: iTunes *.m4v crashes VLC

DRM'd files can't be played in VLC. Sigh. m4V via iTunes is a popular format, and lots of queries like mine (see below) are popping up on the Net. So ... VLC/VideoLan needs to openly and explicitly state DRM incompatibility of iTunes-based m4V on the home page or here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/f...

iTunes *.m4v crashes VLC

I'm new to VLC and have just downloaded the latest VLC player.
I can't play -Tunes-downloaded .m4v files. Attempting to open them causes VLC to close (crash) immedaitely. Is this due to DRM? Any workaround?

My PC: Win XP SP2; Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz; ATI Radeon 9600 video card
