yes it would be awesome to have this feature, its a total pain to do it manually

You can change the video output to Direct X, the video output should look ok then but it will disable windows Aero.

Is there a page where I can see the 'known issues' with VLC?

Since installing Windows 7 RTM I have noticed that the video quality in VLC player is terrible, it basically looks pixelated, with lots of small blocks visible - most apparent on diagonal lines. The lower the resolution of the original video the worse it looks. It affects all video formats, Xvid, wm...
