Sound cuts out temporarily near beginning of video

Was wondering if anyone could identify why VLC 2.0.1 (happens to be on an Intel Mac) ocassionally skips sound. I'm wondering if it's to do with where a video file has been edited. Something seems to happen with audio codecs, but I don't really understand. main debug: Stream buffering done (1056 ms i...

Re: VLC 1.1.0-RC1

Mhmm, I'd like to know too. And VLC is currently trying to download pre3 and downloads 'something' but then chokes and says the installer is unsigned. Which is irritating.

How strange. Exactly the opposite for me.

Re: 13" MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard and VLC 1.0.1

Thanks. the thing that helped most to fix the skipping was to activate the mmap feature.

Set settings to show "all".

Input/Codecs -> Access Modules -> MMAP -> Tick "Use File Memory Mapping"

Save.

Just setting that H.264 thing to see if it makes things even better.

Re: 13" MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard and VLC 1.0.1

Just a tip: I was having the same problems and it seems to have pretty much stopped when I went to "Input & Codecs" preference tab and set "Skip the loop filter for H.264 decoding" to "All"... Won't hurt to try! ;) Good luck :) ~Levi F Sorry, which exact setting is...

Re: player stutters

Just to add. I set the video to float on top, closed all other apps, and then opened everything linked from my dock. The sound kept playing perfectly, though the video did pause in one place, and then sort itself out, while the sound continued perfectly. I haven't had a chance to see if there's any ...

Re: player stutters

Sorry to be unscientific: I am using 1.0.2 64-bit from a couple nights back. The MMAP thing does seem to stop the stuttering I was getting when opening multiple apps while watching a video. 1.0.2 64-bit did previously have that particular stuttering problem.

Re: player stutters

Noticed one thing though. Clicking "reset all" on the advanced preferences screen only seems to reset the page of preferences you're on. Maybe that's intended behaviour, but it's a bit ambiguous.

Re: player stutters

So I increased the cache to 3000ms (after resetting the preferences). It's still stuttering (although, I guess 3 seconds later...) I am admittedly stress-testing VLC (starting a video, then running netnewswire, spotify, textwrangler, adium, pages, skype, itunes, and others). Strangely it does not se...

Re: VLC and Snow Leopard

How is this coming along? is the 64-bit version testable on Snow Leopard?

Re: player stutters

I was getting a bit of stuttering earlier, but since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I can't watch a video and simultaneously do anything with the processor (like opening Firefox) withoug massive stuttering. QT X is fine.
