Re: flickering green screen DVD

My desktop runs on Windows 7. I've never had this happen before but yesterday I put an older DVD I just bought in the drive to play and a green screen came up, flickering, over the main screen with Play, Extras, Subtitles etc. I had a message to get the VLC upgrade which I did but it's still happen...

flashing green screen

For several years now I have had to view a flashing green screen when trying to view some videos. I see it discussed in the forum with many potential fixes some of which I have tried. After all this time I think the devs need to get this fixed. Can someone please explain to me what's going on.

Re: update 3.0.7 flashing green and purple

Hi, it will be quickly fixed by a small update, no need to disable hardware decoding. Thanks! I'll believe that when I see it. This flickering green playback has been happening to me for years off & on and nobody cares enough to fix it so far. It seems to me the devs lost interest long ago.

Hello,

Could you try with the latest 3.0.2 nightly
You can download it at: https://nightlies.videolan.org/
I tried to do as you ask but there are so many downloadable files with that number and with the same date that I don't know which to use. Could you clarify?

Re: Can't view DVDS

I think I have found a work around if not a solution. DVDFab Decrypter has a feature called "path player" which, I believe handles some form of encryption not always present so it can be toggles on/off. I've been running the program with path player enabled so that I could use the features...

Re: Can't view DVDS

I followed your instructions again and this time got a message the forum won't allow me to post because it contains more than 4 URLs. Use pastebin or similar service in that case. Sorry but I've been unable to recreate the message screen I mentioned without freezing the computer. Does the other mes...

Thee is no message to post, however I was able to play one disk but not another. I now have a clue as to what's wrong. I'll post the outcome.

Can't view DVDS

When I try to launch a DVD I've backed up using DVDFab Decrypter nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. System components: Phenom II 550- BE@3.1ghz, 4GB DDR3, AMD 5750GPU, WD 500GB Black HDD, Samsung DVD burners, ASUS MB. No conflicts that I can find. WMP works OK.

Re: DVDs won't play

If you have AnyDVD or DVDfab decrypter installed, try to update those. Or any CD/DVD virtual drive (like daemon tools or alcohol).
I'm already running the current version of DVDFab Decrypter, v6.0.4.0. I don't have "any DVD".

Re: DVDs won't play

Driver or hardware problem. Media Players cannot freeze or crash systems, broken hardware or bad drivers can.
How would you suggest I proceed? My hardware seems to be functioning OK so how would I locate the offending driver(s)?
