Using VLC 1.1.9 on Windows XP Pro SP3 I converted a MJPEG movie (made by a Nikon COOLPIX S5100 camera, 720p30) to MP4 using the H.264+AAC (.mp4) profile. Although after downloading the new version and exiting VLC, the vlc.exe process was still running, causing a complaint from the installer, that it can not write to vlc.exe file.
I "fixed" the problem by killing the vlc.exe process with Task Manager.

Updates seem to work now.

I started v1.1.9 on Windows XP and it informed it automatically that 1.1.10 is available.

VLC 1.1.9 on Windows 7 play wrong the file FlickAnimation.avi. The colors are all wrong. The file FlickAnimation.avi is part of the Windows installation. I found it in C:\windows\winsxs. I'm not complaining about the file name, but the file contents.

I opened a MKV movie file to save/convert. In the Save/convert dialog I created a new profile, where I enabled only Audio (with the "keep original audio track" option enabled) and Encapsulation MKV. But the created file was not of type MKV but MPEG (the filename has a .ps appended by VLC)....

When playing DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder on the hard drive, in the Codec Information (ctrl-J) window there is no info about the framerate of the video.

Can it be added?

Or alternatively framerate info in the Statistics (content and actual)?

For example I just tried to download the windows exe installer and got 345 KB/sec (according to Firefox download window) download speed.

Before I got above 1 MB/s.

The new download mirrors (sourceforge) are much slower than the old ones.

Is there nothing that could be done?

Now I use download accelerators, but I doubt the mirror admins condone it.

I get this often too.

The problem is not that the icon appears in Start menu, but that
"Set Video mode to OpenGL" (which I never use) appears, instead of "VLC media player" (which I use often).

Is Windows mixing the both up?
