Security joke ?

The main web page says :
VLC 0.9.8a. We strongly recommend all users to update to this new version.

But the download page offers only 0.9.6.

What is the point ?

Re: Stop releasing different build under same version label

Alex: "Hey, Joe, do you have the latest VLC ? The last one had broken FLV playback". Joe: "I have 0.9.6" Alex: "OK, that one is good." Joe: "Argh, it does not work." Alex: "You should install version 0.9.6" Joe: "But I just did" Alex: "...

Re: Stop releasing different build under same version label

That does not change the fact that there are two releases both named vlc-0.9.6-win32.exe, but different.

Stop releasing different build under same version label

Please don't release different versions labeled with the same version number.

That defies the very purpose of version numbers.

Thanks,

Re: VLC fails to play mp3 file it there is a cue file

Yes.

Now it just prints : vcd error: invalid entry points number

(funny, the same happened once with 0.8.6h. That is : only this line was in messages. Other time, there are hundreds of lines)

I tried vlc-0.9.0-test1-20080629-0004-win32.7z

VLC fails to play mp3 file it there is a cue file

Hi! Using VLC 0.8.6.h on Windows 2003. If I try to open a mp3 file in vlc, when there is a same named .cue file in the same directory, then vlc fails. Example: - map contains foo.mp3 and foo.cue - if I double click foo.mp3 ( or drag it into existing VLC player) it does not play The message window sh...

Re: Bug 0.8.5 - Progress slider, time indication wrong

It seems to happen with all FLAC files.
for example : http://revmanrecordings.com/FLAC/Califo ... ack01.flac

I tried vlc-0.9.0-git-20080620-0050 and there it is ok.

How does it then display the slider position ?
Guesstimate ?
It appears pretty accurate.

Re: Bug 0.8.5 - Progress slider, time indication wrong

Me again ;) VLC 0.8.6c on Windows XP Pro SP2 (new PC, not the same as before) I am playing a MP3 file and : - the progress bar (slider) is correct - the display is completely false, for example , 10 seconds after starting the playback it shows 0:00:10/0:00:00, if I move the the slider toward the end...

Save to disk problems

If I try to play this stream , I hear the voice, but see no pictire. That is understandable, because it is a Real video codec. But : - if I try to save the audio to disk ("Save file", OGG, transocode audio "vorb"), I get some garbage in the file - if I try to "dump raw file&...

Help, wrong GUI language

I just installed VLC 0.8.6 (with the installer).

When I start it, the GUI is not in english.

(in the installer I choose the english language, when asked; which is weird because I already have choosen a system wide language preference, why can't the programs simply respect that ?)

The "Bug Reporting" link just says that I should post on the forum and when a developer notices it, he will add it to Trac.

I already posted to the forum. Anything else I can or should do ?

OK, third PC (Windows XP Pro SP2), third Ogg file. VLC is again 0.8.5 The Ogg file is downloaded from http://www.vorbis.com/music/ ("Epoq - Lepidoptera" , direct link ) http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4397/vlc3rdsu3.png According to the web page (and to WMP), the file is 05:02 long. Als...

Then you have something very unusual going on. Because as I described earlier in this thread I tried OGG/OGM with Vorbis audio in both 0.8.4 and 0.8.5 and I can't see the problem. :P VLC uses the original Tobias filters and it is very unlikely that any updates will ever be available. Last changes w...

Not sure I understand the problem? With or without picture!
The progress bar claims the playback is at ~95%.
The time indicator claims it is at ~66% (34sec/51sec).

One of them is very wrong.

Are they using two different estimations ?

On my system (XP) an OGG/OGM file displays time on the progress bar correctly. What you show here appears to be 98x or Me. The problem isn't the time not being displayed correctly it's the time indicators position on the progress bar that appears incorrect and probably sits at the end for an extend...

Changing the window size does not help. The time area stays the same.
Yeah, harcoded values, they're always fun ... :-(
