Re: Licensing question

Hi Jean-Baptiste, I'm confused. Last I read, VLC was pulled from the app store at the request of Rémi Denis-Courmont for reasons that had nothing to do with the actual application it was linked to. It is my understanding that the complaint was against the App Store, not anything that the application...

Re: Licensing question

Hi Jean-Baptiste, I don't have a problem with following the basic principals of GPL or LGPL (releasing the source-code of my application or its object-files, respectively). The question is whether this is enough. It was my understanding that VLC was withdrawn from the App Store because of the develo...

Licensing question

Hi, I noticed that some parts of VLC are now licensed under LGPL: http://www.videolan.org/press/lgpl-libvlc.html I also noticed that the bottom of this page says that it's unclear whether this change allows VLC to be available on App Store. I'd like to ask a very simple question: Are there *any* und...

Re: How *not* to treat your users

Well, the issue, is that we cannot allow too many things on the webplugins, because website could get nasty (controlling your mouse, forcing fullscreen), so we have to disable that... So, for you 2 solutions: - use another interface than the webbrowsers plugins - recompile your own plugin. I unders...

How *not* to treat your users

https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4420#comment:5 I filed a legitimate enhancement request and was told to get lost. I only reopened the issue to reply to courmisch's comments. The first time I reopened it to reply to his question. The second time I reopened it to point out that he misunderstood w...

Plugin does not work with xulrunner 1.9.2

Hi, I am trying to run xulrunner 1.9.2 under Windows 7 64-bit, FireFox 3.6.3. Under VLC 1.0.5 I get a "plugin missing" icon, but it works fine under FireFox. Under VLC 1.1.0 I get a "plugin missing" icon, and the plugin crashes FireFox. How do I get xulrunner 1.9.2 working with V...

Re: Browser plugins do not work under Windows 7

Figured it out. The example page used an outdated API. I've updated the HTML (video.playlist.play instead of video.play) and now VLC now works fine under FireFox 3.6.3.

Browser plugins do not work under Windows 7

Hi, I installed VLC 1.0.5 under Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I can play files under VLC just fine but when I hit http://goa103.free.fr/t_63455/example_1.html I get a black screen that reads "Waiting for Video". If I click on "Play Video" I get "document.video1.play is not ...

Re: How do I get VLC to use ffdshow?

Alternatively, how do I decrease the playback latency? One second seems a bit excessive.

How do I get VLC to use ffdshow?

Hi, When I play live video using VLC I see a 2 second delay, but when I play it using ffdshow I see only 300ms delay. How do I get VLC to use ffdshow to play the video instead of the built-in codecs? PS: Using ":tcp-caching=0 :udp-caching=0 :http-caching=0 :file-caching=0" reduces the dela...

Hi,

When I play a video from an HTTP source the player displays the URL for a few seconds on startup. Is there a way to suppress this?

Thanks,

Passing command-line arguments to VLC plugin?

Hi, I want to look up the VLC web plugin API. http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=29654 points to http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/browser/tags/0.8.6/activex/axvlc.idl but "trac" is down and has been for at least a couple of days now. How do I pass command-line arguments to the ...

Help! Two second delay in live video stream

Hi, I'd like to do live video streaming with a record-to-play turnaround time of under 300ms. I tried everything but no matter what I do VLC always introduces a 1-2 second delay. I even tried recording from a webcam and doing local playback but I still got the delay. Clearly this is not a network pr...
