vlc firefox plugin problem

I have installed the vlc firefox plugin, and uninstalled or disabled all other firefox media plugins. When I attempt open an audio file from a website I get a blank screen. How do I get vlc to open and play these files?

Google Chrome plays these files with no trouble, but it's not using vlc

Re: VLC Video Resolution Problem

I figured this one out. The screen resolution needs to be set BEFORE opening VLC, and can't be changed while VLC is playing.
Any problem is simple once you find an answer :D

If I set the Windows Display Properties screen resolution any higher than 1280by720 the video screen is black. No picture. How do I correct this?

Re: can't play streaming qt

Do I assume correctly that the lack of any response to my question means that nobody knows the answer, and this can't be done?
I had so hoped VLC might be the one and only media player I needed. I guess not.

can't play streaming qt

Yet another problem. VLC won't recognize a url which is streaming in qt (mp4) format. Also, a rtsf url stops playing after a few minutes.

Re: Missing menu items with modern skin

If the skin menus are incomplete, I don't understand how they can be used.

Missing menu items with modern skin

Just downloaded the modern skin, which imitates winamp. I could not locate "Open location from clipboard" and the items following those on the media menu. Are they missing? If not, where are they? I know I've been asking a lot of questions in the last day or so. As a newbee to VLC I'm not ...

Re: Can't open url

Thanks. As I wrote elsewhere, I hope eventually VLC will include a playlist file to store urls.

Can't open url

I enter the command OPEN NETWORK STREAM, enter the protocol and the url. I get an error message--can't open. Same thing happens with every url, all of which I have been using in The KMPlayer with no problem. What's wrong? Using Version 1.0 with WinXP

Re: iso files

I found the solution in another forum. VCDControlTool does the same thing as the programs you recommend. My iso file is mounted and can be accessed. But it can only be played in Version 1.0 by using the OPEN DISK command, a change from the previous version. IMHO rather an arcane and thoroughly non-i...

iso files

I have a dvd file in iso format. Using a program called vcdcontroltool I can mount this iso file as a virtual dvd drive. I cannot get vlc to open this. OS is WinXP

playlist for streaming network media

Is there a way to create a playlist file for streaming media? This file would contain the protocol and the url for every site I access. Entering this info every time I want to access something on the net is a nuisance. The KMPLayer has this feature, but I find nothing comparable in the VLC player
