Re: Support for xHE-AAC aka USAC

To clarify, foobar2000 plus the fdkaac plugin, is the only option I could find for playing xHE-AAC on windows 10, which has the downside that I laid out. On windows 11, windows media player will play the files, but it always comically starts playing the file at 2x speed and I must switch to 1.5 spee...

Re: Support for xHE-AAC aka USAC

YES! I think this needs to be at the top of the vlc to do list. It is 2 years, since this person requested. I would think that since Exhale, FDK, Foobar2000, are all open source, VLC could simply grab the foobar fdk.dll and be up and running, playing xHE-AAC within an hour by someone who knows what ...

Streaming YouTube to roku

Is there a way to share a roku video to vlc app, then cast it to thd Roku? Double speed would be a huge plus. I cannot stand watching video at anything under 1.4x. 1.7x is occasionally needed for a fast talker. I cannot watch- in evening- on phone, even dimmed, with shade over lay. It wakes me up to...

Re: How to run this VLC command from command line

Sorry, but that line offers complaint on XP that the capture failed. Some of us don't have windows 7 or 8. The below works on xp (the quotes around exe path, probably needed for shortcuts more than batch): c:Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -I qt --ttl 12 dshow:// :dshow-vdev="none" :dsh...

Re: Need help with command line

Also, my guess is the windows 7 and xp command lines are different. I have no idea how you come up with these command lines based on the vlc documentation. Like two separate conventions. The jbdub82 xp command line is first to work after much effort. the ahk convention would be. The vlc streamer con...

Re: How to run this VLC command from command line

Is there paid support? Or are we supposed to guess for weeks how to construct a command line via poorly written documentation and empty hints on forum? There is nothing in messages. Nothing. Now in Modules Tree Input is decoder "packetizer copy" and demux "dshow" audio output &qu...

No luck. I do not know what double spaces you are talking about. Not in example.

Re: VLC 2.0.0 RC1 is running slow on Core i7

I posted lagginess with single core and 420p video (which I use over 480, for size and encoding time). I am wondering, before reinstalling 2.0 again, do all windows computers (or linux) have gpu ability. Is 2.0 only going to work on expensive, upper end computers with latest specs? Or will it work o...

My experience with nightly build v2

Last night, I downloaded the nightly build to see if it didn't crash with pasting youtube links, like 1.1 It got farther with youtube links. I didn't have to fix the unicode youtube.lua It would play about 4 seconds of video, then freeze up, with some sound continuing. In short, 2.nightly vlc froze ...

Re: Getting VLC to play HULU

I installed the plugin, nightly build and 1.1. It appears as if both FF and Opera are still using adobe flash for at least hulu.com. Maybe, I am mistaken. Looks, however, like Opera is properly setup to use the vlc plugin. Perhaps, they override the Opera preferences via a javascript. Since, I do kn...

Getting VLC to play HULU

I am wondering how to get hulu playing in vlc. Best I can recon from that google doohicky is you need to install the firefox plugin at vlc install. Then some vague instruction, that I can't make out to enable this in Firefox for video. This step, I am lost, since I don't use FF anyway. I use Opera, ...

Re: network movies: how to open?

You need to mount the network filesystem with Linux CIFS if you want to see it in the Open File dialog. Newbie, so not aware of Linux CIFS yet. I was able to install smfs in ubuntu. And, intuitvely (not), I see it now in home/.gvfs directory. What about the priority? does a positive number raise or...

Re: network movies: how to open?

To answer my own question: you need to install smbfs Then the network should show up under home/.gvfs This should be fixed since this makes no sense. Also the gui is not clear if bumping up priority raises or lowers the priority. In the system monitor, you must lower the priority number to raise the...

Re: network movies: how to open?

Just to clarify, Yes I can find network and movie directly in file explorer equivalent. I can right click on file and tell it to open with vlc (still too new to know how to set file associations to fix this). But this is no good, since I cannot setup the disk caching in vlc. Moreover, i cannot setup...

I am new to linux--and file system was written by a satist-, so where do they hide the network?

Okay, for others' edification, I fixed it: after two days, of poking around trying to get the new xp version to play video, I finally hit reset preferences. This fixed the video and now it plays. Since this version never played video, I cannot be blamed for changing anything, unless some preference ...

Re: loosing audio with slider forward

Is there some option to display video or idea why not working? I see the h262.dll in plugin folder. My current theory is this is only a build, so because I didn't drop over old install, some dll may be corrupted. I suppose to test my theory I could install older version and install over it. But I th...

Thanks for reply! Quick note before leaving house. I will need to poke around more to figure out how to get back the open button (which I still don't see or see a way to customize.)
