VLC deleted my file

VLC just erased a 2gb video. I finished a two hour transcode and opened another VLC instance to watch it. The two windows were on top of each other and I selected the wrong one and pressed play. It deleted the transcoded file and started transcoding all over again. What a crappy thing to do. Are the...

Need some help with transcoding settings

Hi, I need to reduce the file sizes of some composite recordings So far I have capturing one VHS home video to PC via composite using wintv7. The .TS file (mpgv + mpga 720x576) is huge at 6.61 GB for 1h51m. I used VLC to transcode it to 0.5 the resolution using the H.264 + AAC profile. The transcode...

Re: VLC won't seek video file

Hi. Was this problem supposed to be fixed in v1.0.1? I read in the changelog: "Fix seeking in mpeg2 video files". If it was referring to this seeking problem then I regret to inform that the problem still remains with v1.0.1.

Re: Subtitles extend beyond viewable area

Subtitles extend beyond viewable area

Hi. When I watch videos with large black borders, such as old black and white movies, I have to do a crop to increase the video size. When the subtitles are on though they get cropped too. How do I get the subtitles confined to the viewable area?

VLC won't seek video file

Hi, I've had this problem well before version 1.0. I watch recorded DVB-T transport streams (.TS files) recorded with WinTV v7. The video and 'telx' subtitles work fine. When I use forwards/backwards seek shortcuts [SHIFT/ALT/CTRL + RIGHT/LEFT], the video just hangs for half a second then continues ...
