Found, its a memory leak. Memory compsumption jumps 100mb and then VLC dies. Started VLC again and it doesn't work, it complains about "ts demuxed warning: invalid header". You could look at that portion on code to make it more robust to stream errors.

Hard to tell, it's on remote server. Server was not swapping at the time of crash. No memory usage spikes observed by snmp at the time of crash. I'll try to keep eye on that.

I have setup VLC 0.8.6a on a Windows system. Windows has 2 NICs. VLC is muxing some multicast streams into http to be accessed on other network. Don't use this combination "vlc svn windows binary in wine on linux". I installed windows, then windows VLC binary and errors disapeared.
