I have lots of videos (mkv) embedded with .a ss (without the space of course) subtitles and all of them specify PlayResX and PlayResY as 640 and 480 respectively. If the video is HD, these subtitles will be huge, often taking up a third of the video. It would be nice if one could specify own values ...

Got the same problem as well, but only with the 64-bit version of 1.0.0-rc4. 32-bit 1.0.0-rc4 VLC works.
