Reset VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc folder.

Are you sure you have right speaker setup selected from Audio menu?

Other option related to this is A/52 dynamic range compression that can be found from Preferences (Input/Codecs -> Audio codecs -> A52 or DCA).

AC3/DTS are way too quiet.
I've been testing some other players with AC3/DTS boost, but in other respects they just don't compare to the amazing VLC.
What can I do to fix this?

apt-get update on Ubuntu 9.04 of just vlc updated vlc vlc-data vlc-nox but didn't update libvlc2. This caused segment faults and 1/2 hour of wishing I was watching media instead of fixing linux again. FYI if the update causes vlc to just disappear, be sure libvlc2 has been updated to the same versio...

The play/pause would have to be programmed to not work when hovering over a dvd menu.
It should be an option, for those who don't care for it.
I use the space bar for play/pause, but when my hand is on the mouse, I prefer to keep it there.

BTW its the linux version.
Any chance of a click to pause/play?
