In fact, I don't know exactly what I will do ! I think I will read VLC documentation ... I want to use a FreeBox/FreePlayer to visualiise DivX on my TV. I think it's a portage of VLC . So I want to use the "linux-VLC server" need by the FreePlayer, .... I suppose it's a "video-on-dema...

Depends on the kind of streaming you want to do and if you plan on doing live transcoding.
I want to visualize DivX,

It's the server or it's the client that decodes DivX data ?

Minimal hardware requirement

I will have a EpiaM6000 (C3 600MHz => low performance).

It will be file server and Firewall,

Is this kind of hardware sufficient to be a DivX VCL Stream server ?
