Re: Automatic deinterlacing for interlaced videos, yadiff filter.

yadif is necessary to VLC. But noone had time to do the correct code filter...
But the code is open source and freely available on mplayer's source code. All that's needed is a copy paste and some renaming, right?

Re: Automatic deinterlacing for interlaced videos, yadiff filter.

So they are fixed or implement if someone wants to do them (security errors are exception). This is what puzzles me. How it's possible nobody of the team not to want yadif on VLC?? Even the lamest shareware out there has some short of advanced de-interlacing filter, and PowerDVD had yadif-like filt...

Re: Buffer management

This is a feature request? No, but the "please make the 4.000ms cache default on all access modules" is such. The 300ms is just too smal, both in Linux, but most importantly Windows. If svchost starts making a random read/write from the hard disc for long enough, the 300ms is easily empti...

Re: Buffer management

I don't know, set the buffer to say, 4000 ms, and you will be covered. The default 300ms is just too damn small, especially for vista, small wonder why shutters happen. To set the buffer, go to Preferences --> Advanced --> Input/Output --> Acces Modules. Go to AudioCD, DVD without menu, DVD with men...

Re: Automatic deinterlacing for interlaced videos, yadiff filter.

Well, can it be added in the group's "to do" list somehow? There isn't list like that. Devs mostly do features that they like/need or what someone has paid them to do. If nobody takes into account the things we say, what is the point of calling it a "feature request" forum? I pr...

Re: Optimized Scaling for 4:3 aspect ratio on 16:10 screen

Why crop the image? I mean, how much cropping is according to your view "appropriate"? I say that because there are shows that have information in the very top and very bottom (ex financial news) and cropping some of it off results in a strange result. My Sharp Aquos had a feature like tha...

Re: FR: Add support for Broadcom's Crystal HD Media Accelerator

Just ping Broadcom legal?
A good start would be to search for any other open source programs compatible with the hardware, if any.

If not, first search the net for a relevant driver/API/spec sheet/whatever, then ping hp (they say they support opensource), then Broadcom.

Re: Automatic deinterlacing for interlaced videos, yadiff filter.

Sorry for the previous post, but seriously, are we going to get that simple but much-wanted feature sometime in the future? It should be a matter of two lines of code for you. Just check if the mpg is interlaced, and do blend. You can easily obtain the relevant code from DGindex, gspot or mpc. You d...

Re: Automatic deinterlacing for interlaced videos, yadiff filter.

Open source sucks. If it wasn't for VLC being the only player to allow disabling the YUY->RGB hardware conversions, which is the only way of getting decent quality of my mobility X1600 (when they are enabled, I get RGB16-235 instead of the whole range), I would long have moved to PowerDVD... Which b...

Re: The slower button should be THE rewind button!

There are times when I'm watching a film, and I've missed something, and I'd like to quickly look back. It would be easier to find the part I was looking for by rewinding that it is using the backwards jumps. Tried: shift+left and shift+right (3 seconds jump behind/forward) alt+left and alt+right (...

Automatic deinterlacing for interlaced videos, yadiff filter.

Feature Request: Is it possible for VLC to automatically detect interlacing in mpg/vob videos, and apply a deinterlacing filter? Mplayer can tell between interlaced and progressive videos, Media Player Classic can, DGindex can, Gspot most definately can. Here is Gspot succesfully detecting a progres...

Time for multicore support, guys

Here I am with my dual core computer (CPU: T2500), trying to play a 800p or 1080p mkv file, encoded with H264. Unfortunately, video is playing all choppy, as VLC loses half as much frames as it plays. Knowing that the 800p video should be playing at least decently with such processor, my eye falls o...

Re: Time for Blu-Ray support guys...

Mplayer doesn't decode Blu-Ray. That's the easy part. Just use Any DVD HD or DumpHD (for the Linux people), or Blu-Ray Ripper (for the windows people that don't like shareware). The problem is that even on a decrypted movie, VLC has problems with playing some VC-1 streams, plus it doesn't support m...

Re: Time for Blu-Ray support guys...

Aren't Mplayer and VLC supposed to be able to share code? So why it this happening? They both use libavcodec, but demuxers aren't always same ones. Also different build options and different source code versions can make them to behave differently in libavcodec level. Mplayer and VLC also have diff...

Most just show a 'green screen'. Same movie plays fine with mplayer. Aren't Mplayer and VLC supposed to be able to share code? So why it this happening? Re: Time for Blu-Ray support guys...

AFAIK Blu-ray Menu support would require BD-J implementation. So it is very unlikely to see this anytime soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BD-J .. and, proprietary software popped off ahead again (at least in the video dept) Anyway, these guys at DVd Fab promised GPLing the code of their console v...

Re: Automatic deinterlacing for DVD

The problem is, DVDs don't include interlacing infos. Short of adding an Artificial Intelligence, how do you determine which (if any) method to use? Vtirual Dub can most definately retriive interlacing infos from DVDs (VOBs) so DVDs might actually include that kind of info. Just feed VirtualDub wit...

Re: Time for Blu-Ray support guys...

At least did we got menu support for bluray movies with 1.0?

That shouldn't be that hard to implement.

There are programs out there who can make nice BluRay movies with menus from people's home recordings, so it would be nice to be able to play them with VLC.

Ok, first of all, I would like to thank the VLC community for giving the people an outstanding quality open source player that plays everything, on every OS, without problems. i really don't understand why the open source community is having such a problem getting a BD capable player out. what's the hangup? Re: Time for Blu-Ray support guys...

If you actually read up on libbluray you'll find out that its not even close to being working. Everytime a new disc gets released they need to fix it for the new movies because they havent implimented the VM that "real" bluray decoding requires. They claim to have implemented a near perfe...

Re: Time for Blu-Ray support guys...

DRM of Blu Ray is not borken. Ask the Hollywood to open the specifications. https://trac.assembla.com/bdplus/browser/trunk/libbluray Now you have the specifications to make all pre-May 2008 BluRay titles play on VLC. So now you can't blame hollywood because you don't have the time to implement it i...
