vlc 0.9.9a + jack (outputs & playback)

how do make vlc 0.9.9a auto connect to jack and stay connected? vlc is using the jack driver. when vlc is playing, i have to use qjackctl to connect vlc outputs to the system playback. and after a track is played, vlc outputs and system playback are disconnected.

green line

When I play dvds and try a screen capture, I get a lot of green vertical lines. I have tried to change my output options from x11 to opengl, i still get the lines.
any ideas?
