Re: [2.0RC1] Font cache constantly being rebuilt

I'm fine with the warning appearing the way it does now (see my other post).
It sure wasn't like that before I deleted the fontcongif folder. The application was stuck for 20-30s at the time whenever I was attempting to play a movie.

Re: [2.0RC1] Font cache constantly being rebuilt

Interesting… Just for the heck of it, I deleted the ~/Library/Caches/fontconfig folder and relaunched VLC. The font cache was rebuilt and since then the application has been fine. I can not relaunch VLC and play a new video and the FOnt cache dialog barely flashes now! Tremendous improvement. I susp...

Re: [2.0RC1] Font cache constantly being rebuilt

Font cache is generated only when you add a new font to the system, and it's stored to ~/Library/Caches/fontconfig. You can check the cache files' time stamp. And I forgot to mention: the folder seems to be updated all the time. The timestamp reveals it was last updated the last time I played a vid...

Font cache is generated only when you add a new font to the system, and it's stored to ~/Library/Caches/fontconfig. You can check the cache files' time stamp. Well I sure haven't been adding fonts or installing any application that does. That's why I suspected there was something wrong with the VLC...

Re: [2.0RC1] Font cache constantly being rebuilt

Can you share the log?

I would love to, but I'm not sure where to find it.
I looked in ~/Application Support/org.videlan.vlc and in ~/Logs and didn't find it. Could you give me a pointer?

Thanks :-)

Re: [2.0RC1] Font cache constantly being rebuilt

To clarify one thing: it’s not rebuild when I launch the application, but it is when I attempt to open a movie (that doesn’t even have subtitles) with it.

[2.0RC1] Font cache constantly being rebuilt

Hi All, I’m experiencing a problem very similar to what has been reported for the Windows version (http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/3950). In essence, every time I launch VLC 2.0RC1, I get a warning telling me the font cache is being rebuilt. My user account is not in /Users (it’s on another volu...

Re: VLC in 'Program' Folder

Here is what I mean: http://static.pici.se/pictures/EVIuPFwih.png And No. It is not because I´ve changed the name. My system is running in English and the name of the application is simply VLC. I suspect that the application ahs a localized name (just like Preview does), and this name might have so...

That's a linking issue (a library appears to be linked with an absolute path instead of a relative). I've got no idea why yet, but I'll have a look later on.
Thanks. Just FYI, the problem remains in the trunk-20060305-1710.dmg that was released today.

libdvbpsi.3.dylib trouble in the 0.8.5svn

Hi, It looks like there is a problem with the latest two 0.8.5svn builds (March 03 and 04). They crash almost immediately when you launch then. The crash log report that libdvbpsi.3.dylib seems to be missing... Library not loaded: /Users/buildslave/slave/nb-g5-osx-trunk/build/extras/contrib/lib/libd...

Re: Theora required ??

There is something wrong with the current OSX nightly builds. I'll have a look at it later today and hope to get that fixed soon. If I fail, I'll tell another OSX developer about that.
Thanks Felix,

Theora required ??

Hi All, I was trying to run the latest nightly build and it was repeatedly crashing on launch on my Mac. I took a look at the Console output and it somehow suggested that VLC was looking for libtheora. I compiled and installed it (with its sister, libogg) and now the nightly build runs like a charm....

Wouldn't it be sensible to remove 0.82 from download on the OSX version and leave 0.81 until this is sorted? No, because 0.8.2 works for at least 433,407 people (only on OSX. there are at least 1,350,528 windows users as well) and only the few who tried APE have problems with it. Additionally, 0.8....
