Excess code when ripping? (should i want for it to finish)

When ripping videos using VLC it runs through the video length, say 40 miinutes for the sake of it. Then it goes and runs another 5 minutes. Then another few minutes. etc. And eventually it stops. Should i wait for it all to finish ripping or can i just stop after the first 40 minutes? (that might s...

I have recently discovered VLC and am backing up my DVD collection incase they get nicked or something. I use the following settings. File Name; x.mp4 Encapsulation; mp4 Video Codec; Mpeg 4, 1750 kb/s Audio Codec; Mp4 (AAC), 128 kb/s Some videos though dont load once they've been ripped. An error me...
