+1 - This annoys me too. I'm often playing 10+ videos at a time (playing an entire chapter of a training video each video only being a few minutes). I typically initiate this by dragging all the files onto the playlist window. I really wish VLC would start playing the first item instead of the last ...

Ok, finally happened again and I'm almost certain it's NOT VLC's fault. It continues after VLC is closed, in fact it continues coming out of the receiver/home theater speakers even after I unplug the optical cable... so apparently it's in the receiver. So even if you close the VLC, the buzz continues? Good question... not sure... I usually grab my remote and turn off the receiver (or change inputs) as fast as possible...
