Re: Automatically switch audio output between 2.0 and 5.1

I leave the OSX outputting as many channels as it wants (over HDMI - 7.1 i believe) and theres a button on my receiver remote to swap it between "Direct" (only output what it gets) and "Stereo" (with sub options for what to do - only out two, out front, out all). However, my rece...

Re: Automatically switch audio output between 2.0 and 5.1

Can your receiver not be set to convert to 5.1 anyway? My Marantz can be set to assume the input is stereo and upconvert no matter what is actually coming in.

Re: ac3 dts - 5.1 issue (overloaded center speaker)

Try VLC 2.0? It has a couple of audio fixes. Also make sure you are on the latest OS version (10.7.3 assuming Lion) as it can change audio behavior.

Re: Magnificent performance

Not providing a crash log...? Not keeping the "brand new" imac up to date (10.6.8 maybe? huge system changes). Try deleting the preferences files (in your home folder -> Library -> Preferences ...somewhere here, look for all vlc references). I have three machines all running smoothly, so t...

Re: VLC 2.0 RC1 Nightly bugs / issues

20120128-314 stable: startup volume preference self-zeros on exit somehow, even if the vlcrc file is manually edited, rather than pref set in GUI. vlc-stable-x86_64-20120115-0313 did not appear to have this issue

edit: added previous build i think was ok

Re: Broken audio mapping

amaury.dg, so what is your setup? Are you using TOSLINK or what? Operating system version?

Come on, at least give them some scrap of information to work on or they'll never be able to fix it.

Re: Broken audio mapping

For my particular case, SPDIF results in no audio. I suspect this is not a VLC issue, but my Firewave box. main debug: VLC is looking for: 'a52 ' 48000 Hz 3F2R/LFE frame=1536 samples/1536 bytes auhal debug: audio device supports digital output auhal debug: original stream format: [48000.000000][mcpl...

Broken audio mapping

Hi all, Multi-channel audio mapping seems wrong in VLC 1.1.12 and 1.2.0-git under Lion 10.7.2. Playing the linked file with QTX shows the original file plays correctly, but VLC swaps some channels. http://www.lynnepublishing.com/surround/www_lynnemusic_com_surround_test.ac3 A test is to transcode th...

Re: Converting VLC to Quicktime

Rather than doing any kind of conversion, try installing the Perian Quicktime plugin, this should allow quicktime to open many of the files VLC can play (but not all). You should then be able to use quicktime editing capabilities as usual.

Re: Vobsub in MKV looses colour

Should I point at Handbrake now, where you guys have decoded colour info for ages and are about to implement a VobSub-in-mkv soft sub option?

Cheers, Andrew

Re: Vobsub in MKV looses colour

I do not seem to have drop access when mounted through the Finder, and I have proxy troubles through the cli. Can I say this problem happens with all the VobSubbed files I play with and leave it at that? Oh, also the subs show white in Quicktime via Perian, so this may be a ffmpeg or matroska proble...

Can you point me to your preferred upload site?
Also, do you want the orig. sub files and the movie separately?

Vobsub in MKV looses colour

Hi all, I have an mkv movie file with some vob subs. These subs are yellow when vlc 0.99a loads them as separate files (.idx/.sub pair), as they should be, but when muxed into the mkv with mkvmerge 2.60, they display white. re-extracting the subs with mkvextract confirms the idx colour palette is st...
