One highly used playback rate is 1.25x.

So I really recommend adding that option into the list. That would be incredibly simple and solve most peoples issues.

There are many many threads with people asking how to do this on the help forums. Very many people want this feature to listen to audio books and video lectures. It's particularly important with the rise in usage of mobile devices like android phones.

How do we go about getting this feature? It's all over the forums, but no one seems to have moved on attempting to fix it.

I would also like to know this for when I listen to audio books!

I think every user that listens to video/audio books/lectures would benefit greatly from a solution to this problem.
It is a high priority problem that needs solvin'.

I have this same problem. I like to listen to audio books at 1.5x but the playback keeps going back to 1.0x when the playlist moves to a new chapter.
How do I set the default playback rate?
